Premiums are awarded if the breeder of the pig is from Iowa and enrolled in the Verified Iowa Bred program. All breed champion market hogs will receive $1,000, if breeder is VIP enrolled. All reserve breed champion market hogs will receive $500, if breeder is VIP enrolled. Breed champion VIP gilts will receive $250. Reserve breed champion VIP gilts will receive $150.

All Breeds will qualify for these awards in 2021:
Berkshire, Chester, Duroc, Hampshire, Hereford, Landrace, Poland China, Spot, Tamworth, Yorkshire

Current Sign Up Fees for Purebred Litters

May 1 litter nomination form signed and due with payment by breeder. One nomination form per mailing address (accounts for different herd marks at farms). Late litter nominations are accepted until August 1 - regular cost plus $500 late fee. Exhibitors will simply need to have pedigrees on them when they show for top 5. If they do not pass parentage testing, the breeder is 100% responsible for award money.

All Champion and Reserve Purebred Market Hogs will be DNA tested in accordance with each respective breed association and must meet the requirements of a VALID pedigree according to each association pedigree guidelines. After testing, all animals must have a valid pedigree standing with the association. VIP Breeder will have ample chance to take any corrective action on suspect pedigrees. If deemed a pedigree is fraudulent, VIP Breeder will need to reimburse IPSC and VIP Program before reinstatement for the following year(s)”
